Bario creates notifications in the database the moment an order changes, so nothing depends on a screen being watched. Food goes to the kitchen and drinks to the bar, routed by menu category. When a station marks something ready, the waiter who sent it gets a full-width banner and a rising chime, not a small badge they have to notice. The same events reach a phone with the app closed as a push notification, and each member of staff decides which types they want. Push for kitchen, bar and custom stations is tied to the shift, so an off-duty phone stays quiet.

Do notifications reach staff when the app is closed?
Yes. The Bario mobile app registers the device for push notifications, so an order or a ready plate reaches the phone with the app in the background or fully closed.
Can staff switch off the notifications they do not need?
Yes. Notification types are set per person, so a bartender can keep drink alerts and drop the rest. Anything not switched off stays on, so a new type never arrives silently.
Does the kitchen phone buzz when nobody is on shift?
No. Push for the kitchen, the bar and every custom station is gated on the shift being open. Off-duty devices get nothing.
What happens to the unread count overnight?
Anything older than the start of your current business day is marked read automatically, using the same business-day cut every report uses. A night that runs past midnight stays one shift, so the bell resets when your day rolls over rather than at 00:00.
Can a custom station have its own notifications?
Yes. A notification is addressed either to a role or to a custom display route, and route-addressed ones reach exactly the employees whose role grants that station.
