Most cloud systems print by shouting at connected devices and hoping one of them is awake. Bario writes a print job to the database the instant the order is sent, so the ticket exists whether or not a single tablet is running. Devices on the printer's network pick jobs up, and if one cannot reach the printer (asleep, on the wrong WiFi, app killed mid-print), the job goes back in the queue, retries on a backoff, and is offered to a different device. You can watch the whole queue in settings, see why a ticket was late, and reprint anything with one tap.

Kitchen Printing common questions
Can I print from a browser?
No, and neither can anyone else: browsers cannot open a raw network socket to a thermal printer. Printing runs through the Bario mobile app for Android or iOS, which any device on the printer's network can run. The rest of Bario works fine in a browser.
What happens if the tablet next to the printer is off?
The ticket is still queued. Any other device running the app on that network will pick the job up, and if none is available right now the job waits and prints as soon as one appears.
What if the printer is asleep and the first attempt fails?
The app retries the connection several times before handing the job back, and the queue then retries on a backoff. A printer whose WiFi has gone to sleep typically prints on the second attempt, a few seconds later.
Can I tell one tablet to handle one printer?
Yes. You can designate a device per printer and it gets first refusal on that printer's jobs. It is a preference, not a lock: if that device is not running, the rest of the fleet takes over rather than leaving the ticket unprinted.
Do Greek characters print correctly?
Yes. Bario encodes tickets to the printer's Greek code page rather than sending UTF-8, which is what turns Greek menus into symbols on most systems. A test print from the printer settings shows a Greek sample so you can confirm it in one tap.
What kind of printer do I need?
Any network ESC/POS thermal printer on the same network as one of your devices, using the standard port 9100. You can configure several, one per station.
